Translate the audio of a tab
The extension listens to the audio playing in a tab and shows the translation as captions a few seconds later. This feature is available in the extension for Chrome (and Chromium browsers such as Edge).
Get started
- Open the tab that plays the audio.
- Click the 訳 button in the toolbar, then “Translate tab audio”.
- A “Live translation” panel appears on the page and shows the translation of what’s said.
To stop, click “Stop” in the panel or “Stop audio translation” in the 訳 toolbar panel. Drag the panel or move it with the arrow keys; you can also minimize it.
Good to know
- Audio can be translated in one tab at a time.
- Captions appear a few seconds after the words are spoken.
- Translation takes the surrounding context into account.
- For videos with subtitles, bilingual subtitles stay in sync with the picture.
Usage and data
Translated audio counts toward this month’s audio translation (10 minutes a month on the free plan). Audio translation data is deleted automatically 24 hours after processing.
