Help & how-to
How to use the Taiyaku extension and web app, and what to check when something doesn’t work.
Getting started
Translating
- Translate a pageMake the page you’re reading bilingual, with the translation under each paragraph: the ribbon, the 訳 toolbar button, Alt+A and always-translate sites.
- Translate a selectionSelect text on any page and press the 訳 stamp to translate just that part: switch tones, copy, listen, look up names with knowledge cards, or press Alt+S.
- Knowledge cardsKnowledge cards show readings and short explanations for people, organizations, places and works — automatically, or for any term you select.
- Translate PDFsRead PDFs side by side with the translation: the web PDF translator, the extension’s PDF viewer, the original-layout view and bilingual HTML export.
- Bilingual video subtitlesShow original and translated subtitles together on YouTube and other videos, adjust their position and size, and fix videos where they don’t appear.
- Audio translationTurn streams and webinars without subtitles into translated live captions: start and stop audio translation in the Chrome extension, limits and tips.
Settings and account
- Display styles, furigana and glossariesChange how translations look and read: five display styles, tone, furigana in Japanese translations and glossaries for names and terms.
- Account and plansWhat the free plan includes, upgrading, changing or cancelling a paid plan, receipts and invoices, and when your monthly usage resets.
