Translate a web page

The extension adds the translation right under each paragraph of the page and leaves the layout as it is.

Ways to translate

Any of these translates the whole page you’re viewing.

  • Click the 訳 ribbon at the right edge of the page.
  • Click the 訳 button in the toolbar, then “Translate this page”.
  • Press Alt + A (Option + A on a Mac).
  • Right-click the page and choose “Translate this page”.

Do it again to go back to the original. Translation starts with what’s on screen and continues as you scroll.

The ribbon panel

Hover over the ribbon to open its panel. Switch the display style, target languages and knowledge cards, or decide how this site is handled (always translate, never translate), right there.

Drag the ribbon up or down; its position is remembered per site. To hide it, turn off “Shiori bookmark” under Settings › Translation › Features.

Translate a site automatically

  1. Open the site and click the 訳 button in the toolbar.
  2. Turn on “Always translate this site”.

From then on, its pages are translated as soon as they open. Choose “Never translate this site” in the ribbon panel to hide the ribbon and stamp there. Manage both lists under Settings › Site rules.

Page content is only sent when you translate (or when you open a site you set to translate automatically).

Target languages

Choose the language to translate into under “Translate into” in the 訳 toolbar panel. The source language is detected automatically. Paid plans can show 2–3 languages at once, stacked under the original in the order you pick them.

Without the extension

On a device without the extension, enter an article’s URL in the web page translator to read its main text in a reader view, with the translation under each paragraph. It works with public pages that don’t require a login.
